| FINE ART PRINTS |
| About Giclee´(zee-clay) Limited Edition and Standard prints |
George Wedding's original fine
art and portrait prints are created by the photographer
using state-of-the-art, Epson™ inkjet printers with special clay-coated,
heavy weight, acid-free watercolor papers and pigmented
inks formulated to last 75 years or more before noticeable
fading occurs. The printing
technique used takes its name from the French word Giclee´
(to spray) because the best modern inkjet printers use
microscopic print heads to spray minute amounts of ink
that represent each pixel in a digital image. A pixel
(or picture element) is the smallest component of a digital
image file; each photographic image contains millions
of pixels.
To be properly preserved, inkjet
photographic prints must be matte-mounted, framed under
glass and displayed under ideal conditions lighting
that does not exceed 450 lux during a 12 hour per day,
with a room temperature of about 75æF and a 60%RH level.
This is typical of bright, interior offices with fluorescent
lighting or homes with mixed daylight and tungsten lighting.
By comparison, the lifespan of traditional photographic
chemical prints is shorter only about 60 years
with Fuji papers and chemistry, perhaps 25 years with Konica materials
and 12 to 16 years with Kodak supplies.
Two types of GEOPIX prints are available: Standard Prints, and Limited Edition, Fine Art Prints. Most GEOPIX images are available as Standard Prints. However, some rare or historically significant images are being made available only as Limited Edition Fine Art Prints. GEOPIX Limited Edition Fine Art Prints meet standards defined by California state law. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist, distribution is "limited" and set in advance for each print size offered, and a certificate authenticating the edition is delivered with the print. These measures help protect your investment in collectable art.

Dimensions are in inches. Print refers
to the size of the printed image area/matte window. It is approximate, and varies depending
on the camera format. Sometimes, images are cropped, but when possible,
full frame prints are produced -- they make use of the entire image area,
but may not fit precisely into the traditional photographic frame sizes.
Other printing papers may be available in the future. Matte/Frame denotes
the approximate frame size that will be needed and is
rounded to nearest 1/2 inch. Ideal prints for the best
Nikon D1x quality: 11x17, 15x23 or 22x34-inches.
