rate chart below provides pricing guidelines to license
stock (existing) photographic reproductions of GEOPIX
creative works for use in printed advertisements that
are reprints of editorial magazine stories. The space
rates quotes are categorized by circulation, placement

Factors affecting rates in magazine
reprint advertisements
Reprints of favorable, editorial magazine or newspaper
stories (and picture layouts) often are used by commercial
organizations as promotional material or to directly
solicit new business. Companies seeking to republish
such material need the permssion of the publication.
However, the content (story or pictures) may have
been produced by the publication's own staff, or by
a freelance author, illustrator or photographer (who
either retained or signed away their ownership and
usage rights). Photographer George Wedding retains
the rights to remarket freelance material, since it
is only licensed to newspapers
and magazines for limited, one-time use.
A
company wishing to reprint a newspaper or magazine
story containing GEOPIX images using photo copying,
original film negatives or digital files and a press,
must secure a separate copyright license from GEOPIX
for this new use, and pay a new licensing fee. The
republication of editorial reprints is classified
as advertising (sometimes called advertorial),
and commands a fee higher than editorial usage fees
The
photography licensing rates quoted are based on specific
criteria, including use, reproduction size, placement,
distribution (local, national, international), length
of the ad campaign, uniqueness of the image, and production
costs. Generally, print advertising brochure rates
are higher than Web advertising rates. Unless otherwise
requested and defined in the written copyright license,
images are made available for one-time, exclusive
use for a three-month period and they will not be
sold to potential competitors you name and identify
during this period. Longer periods of exclusivity
are available (see Other
fees,
below). All other rights are reserved and photographer
George Wedding always retains full copyright ownership.
Other Fees
Research,
digital processing, CD-burning, transmission and other
fees may apply. Some publications request first-time
use or exclusive use (for a limited period), instead
of the standard 90-day license.

Payments
The
copyright license you receive is your contract. Terms,
rates, fees and other uses can be negotiated and added
to the license as needed. All prices are quoted in
U.S. dollars. Payments must be received before publication,
unless otherwise noted in your copyright license.
The invoice payment may be made in the form of a check
or foreign draft made payable (in U.S. dollars) to
George Wedding / GEOPIX.
Payment
via wire-transfer, directly to my U.S. bank account,
also is accepted (this service is available through
Citibank in some countries). However, a bank transfer
fee is required for international purchases paid using
wire transfers. Your company is responsible for this
bank charge, and this may not be deducted from the
invoice total or the amount paid to my account. I
suggest using the following formula when estimating
a bank transfer fee:

an exact quote. The space rates vary with publication
circulation, image placement and reproduction size.
